Welkom at Bed & Breakfast Bij De Sassenpoort. The Sassenpoort is one of the remainders of Zwolle’s Medieval defenses and was the entrance to the city’s centre. As it is a UNESCO monument nowadays, the Sassenpoort is one of the best kept buildings from that period of time.

We are Rob, Alwin, Marlie, Sabrina and Jurriaan and we will be your host at this beautiful bed and breakfast. The bed and breakfast is situated just around the corner of the Sassenpoort in a former house that is designated as national monument. By staying here, you will be able to discover the treasures of the building itself, as well as the treasures of the city of Zwolle.

Our rooms

We have five luxury rooms available at the bed and breakfast, furnished to accommodate up to six persons. There is a smart-TV and WiFi connection at hand. Next to that, two rooms can be used for Short Stays. Our Short Stay-rooms are equipped with their own kitchen and bathrooms.

I would love to make you a delightful breakfast in our common kitchen, which you can use there or take with you to your room. It is also possible that you prepare your own meal in the kitchen. For lunch or diner, there are plenty of restaurants nearby that I can recommend.

We have a partnership with Restaurant de Admiraal. See the cup of this action of the discount it can bring. We also offer you the ability from Monday to Friday from 17:30 to 20:00 a simple meal to use in our shared kitchen facilities. See the action tab.

For those who wish to see a little bit more than just the city centre, there are pleasant bicycle-routes at hand, for example Rondje Zwolle (around Zwolle).

Staying in a national monument

Bed & Breakfast Bij de Sassenpoort is situated in one of the finest buildings of Zwolle. This former house in the Bloemendalstraat was build in 1775. Its facade is built-up of bricks and decorated with cornices on Louis XV-consoles. The main entrance has carved patterns and is framed by pillars. In 1900, the mansion was restored and its former glory shone again.As you walk in on the marmer flooring, through the hallway with its enormous ceilings, you will get the feeling of beauty and wealth.

Everything nearby

The historic city centre of Zwolle is quite the vivid one. Walking out of the main entrance, under the wings of the Sassenpoort, you will reach the main square within a three-minute walk. From here, the Diezerstraat will offer you all well-known brands as well as petit boutiques for local products. Or you could enjoy Zwolle’s extensive culinary treats in one of the bars and restaurants. Even closer to the bed and breakfast lies Museum De Fundatie and Odeon theater. Shops, museums, cinemas, theaters, restaurants and cafes are all within walking distance. And if walking is tiring you, the city of Zwolle is even more amazing seen from the water.

Parking

A carpark is available at the Burgemeester van Roijensingel (€1,60 per hour, €9,00 per day). From here, you are within a five minutes walk from the bed and breakfast. Walk along the canal to the bridge to the Sassenpoort. Keep heading straight in the Sassenstraat and turn left at the end. Now you have reached the Bloemendalstraat.
